Frequently Asked Questions
VISION & PURPOSE
What is “From here to tHERE”?
A step of faith to create room to welcome, disciple, and grow more people by moving into a new, larger ministry home.
Why can’t we stay at the Civic theatre?
We’re nearing capacity, lobby space is too tight to connect, kids' space is upstairs (25 stairs) and it's hard to make kid-friendly, weekday access is limited, and our lease ends Fall 2027.
how will this help our mission to 'love people into a relationship with jesus'?
More seats, a real lobby to socialize and connect, accessible kids spaces families love, and weekday rooms for groups, classes, prayer, and outreach will mean more opportunities to impact and love people in our community.
Location Information
Where is 'there'?
The former Ontario Systems building on 1150 W Kilgore Ave in Muncie. We have leased and plan to build out ~ 25,000 sq ft.
How many seats will there be?
Planned worship center over 540 seats (compared to 400 at the Civic Theatre) with expansion options and the ability to add services.
What about kids and families?
A dedicated JarKids wing with nursery, large rooms, a calm/quiet room, and safe, convenient access at ground level, NO STAIRS!
Is it accessible?
YES! Ramped west entrance near handicap parking and accessible circulation throughout.
Is there enough parking?
There are over 250 onsite spaces, plus potential overflow in neighboring lots, all without having to cross high-trafficked streets.
what will we do with the jar ministry center? (920 w Main st)
It's paid off; elders/trustees are discerning the best stewardship plan for it as the project advances.
Finances & Giving
Are we buying or leasing?
Leasing, with an initial Term of 8-years AND three (3) more 8-year options available. Taking us out 32 years! This controls risk and major surprise repairs.
How much has god already provided?
Approximately $1.2M is already committed/available through reserves and early gifts.
what are you asking each household to do?
Pray first, then give above the tithe as God leads—one-time gifts or monthly pledges (typically 12–36 months).
How can I give?
Online, check, bank bill-pay, employer match, or non-cash gifts (stocks, DAFs, RMDs). We’ll provide clear instructions and a pledge form in November.
Are gifts tax-deductible?
YES! The Jar is a nonprofit; contributions are generally tax-deductible. Consult your tax advisor for specifics.
Will my pledge be confidential?
YES! Only the small finance/processing team sees individual pledge details.
What if we don’t reach the goal?
We’ll phase the build-out, adjust scope, or extend the pledge window—always stewarding resources responsibly.
Timeline & Process
when could we move in?
We have secured the Lease, which was the 1st step. We are now negotiating construction, securing permits, and initiating designs. Our goals are to secure permits and finalize construction budget by mid-March at the latest. Then demo and construction can start in late March / Early April. We’ll share milestones and dates as soon as they’re firm.
who makes the final decisions?
Elders and trustees, with project management by our Building Trustee (Brent Close) and input from specialty advisors and of course, Staff.
Will Sunday services change during the transition?
We’ll communicate any temporary adjustments early and often to keep Sundays running smooth and welcoming.
Participation
Besides giving, how can I help?
Pray daily, join a serve team (events, hospitality, kids, prayer), and continue to invite friends and neighbors by sharing your excitement for things to come.
how can my business or organization get involved?
Sponsorships, in-kind services/materials, matching gifts, or specialized expertise—contact our Building Trustee (Brent Close) for options.
