Baptism

Who Should Be Baptized?
Baptism is for a person who has accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and desires to live a life of obedience to him. If you have taken this step, then you are ready for baptism. If you have any questions about how to begin a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, please contact emily@thejar.org

What Does Baptism Symbolize?
Baptism is a way of showing others that you have entered into a relationship with Jesus Christ. It is an outward physical expression of an inward spiritual experience with Jesus. Baptism shows to others the following:
  • Accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
  • Shared in His death and resurrection
  • Were symbolically washed clean, and sins were forgiven by His death on the cross.
Because Jesus instructed us to be baptized, baptism is an act of obedience. While it is not necessary for salvation (to be "saved"), it demonstrates surrender to God. We immerse at The Jar Community Church because we believe Scripture shows that Jesus modeled that for us as the way to publicly acknowledge our faith in Him.
