We partner with Christian Services International. Hurricane Gilbert displaced many thousands of people in Jamaica destroying their homes. When we go to Jamaica we help build a home for a family in need. We also visit a nursing home and a local school to spend time with some of the local people. If there is a need on the team we will participate in Vacation Bible School, as well. We’ve seen God do some amazing things on our trips to Jamaica. Whether you are handy with tools or not, God can use you on the next Jamaica trip!

Lost Creek is a very impoverished area in the Appalachian Mountains. We partner with Riverside Christian School , a “Beacon in the Hills” for the kids of Lost Creek. The teachers at Riverside only receive a $300/month stipend, but they are given room and board on the school campus. Because of the low pay, Riverside tries to provide a nice living environment, but struggles to pay for improvements to their apartments. Last summer our team was able to help renovate one of the outdated apartments, identify and fix some mold and foundation issues as well as raise money for new appliances in the apartment. Whether you love to work with tools or you like to paint, we could use you on our next trip!

Usually when people think of missions, they think of traveling overseas to reach people, while that is true, missions also involves reaching out to our next door neighbor. At The Jar, there are several ways to get involved in local missions.
The Community Basket Best described as a 'non-food' food bank, The Community Basket's ultimate goal is to provide members of our community who are in need with hygiene, cleaning and paper items that food stamps do not provide! The Basket could use volunteers during their open hours as well as donations of items. Learn More → ServeFest ServeFest is on the second Saturday of each month and is one hour of reaching out to our community with love and kindness–no strings attached. East Washington Academy School Pantry The Jar has partnered with Second Harvest Food bank and East Washington Academy to help with their school pantry program on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Help us reach our community by serving at East Washington Academy. Learn More → |
